Hobie Cat Sailing Costa Rica Jaco

The Costa Rica Sailing School operates a 16-foot Hobie cat in Jacó. They give hourly sailing lessons, rides, & eco-tours, and they also offer a 2-day learn-to-sail course. Experienced beach catamaran sailors can quality to rent the Hobie Cat and take it out to explore the central Pacific coast. The boat can be sailed from numerous beaches, depending on local conditions. Their instructor is U.S. Coast Guard licensed and has years of sailing and teaching experience.


Custom-tailored lessons for beginner, intermediate or advanced sailors by the hour. Lessons from 1 to 3 hours available. 1-3 students per lesson, depending on total combined weight. Everything from rigging and launching the catamaran to sailing all points of sail are covered.


For those who simply want to go on an eco-tour of the awesome central Pacific coast, hourly rides are available where your instructor will act as a naturalist guide and show you some of the amazing wildlife of the area’s ecosystem.


For experienced and proficient beach catamaran sailors, rentals are another option. After passing a check-out ride with the instructor, you can rent the Hobie cat by the hour and take it out solo or with a friend or two. The Costa Rica Sailing School is the only Hobie Cat rental service on the central Pacific coast.

2-day Learn-To-Sail Course

For people who want to learn how to sail a beach catamaran, the school also offers a two-day learn to sail course. This course is based on the ASA 110: Small Boat Sailing curriculum and covers all aspect of beach cat sailing for those new to the sport. Upon completion of this course, you qualify to rent the Hobie Cat and take it out on your own, unsupervised.
