About Costa Rica Sailing

Costa Rica Sailing is a small, independent guide to getting out on the water in Costa Rica: day sails, crewed charters, fishing boats, marinas, cruises and water sports. It started in 2013 and was rebuilt from scratch in 2026.

What this site is

Costa Rica has two coasts and very few marinas, so finding a good boat isn't always simple. This site gathers the sailing tours, catamaran trips, crewed yacht charters, fishing charters, marinas and ships that operate here, coast by coast, with practical guides to sailing, fishing, snorkeling, diving, surfing, kayaking and paddleboarding.

Most of the original profiles were written in 2013 by Monirul Hoque, and the site was started by Geoff McCabe. In 2026 the editors rechecked every business from those years. The ones still running got a fresh profile at their old address. The ones that have closed were taken down.

How we pick listings

We only list operators and marinas we've confirmed are still running, using their official websites, social pages and recent reviews. If we can't confirm a business is open, we leave it out rather than guess. We don't publish prices because they change too often, and we never take payment to list or rank anyone. Corrections and new listings

Boats get sold, captains retire and new charters start every season. If something here is out of date, or you run a sailing or boating business in Costa Rica that we should look at, write to us at [email protected]. We check every suggestion the same way before it goes up.
