Haiku” is 44′ 0″ overall, 26′ 6″ extreme beam, 3′ 6″ draft with the centerboard up. The displacement is 11 tons net 13 gross. The construction of this professionally built sailboat is cold-molded Bruynzeel mahogany, 3 plys with West System epoxy monocoque, constructed in 1985 by California Custom Boats. A high-tech, lightweight, pre-preg carbon cruising interior was installed in 2001. Haiku has a new conventional mast.Sails are Cruise-Lam Dacron and Spectra by Skip Elliot and are in excellent condition.

The interior has 3 double berths in 3 cabins, a double in the forward cabin, main salon and a separate and private aft cabin with its own head. This arrangement is exceedingly comfortable and practical at sea or harbor and very lightweight. All electronics and major equipment have been updated including windlasses, wiring, plumbing and deck hardware. Auxiliary propulsion is by new 40 hp Volvo D2-40 installed in 2008, 3 blade prop. – Fishing gear – Scuba tanks and gear.Haiku was designed for a fast comfortable ride and the ability to navigate waters that other sailboats cannot, making her a perfect choice for adventure sailing.

Golfito Bay

They offer a variety of cruises in Golfito Bay from a two hour cruise, a half day to a whole day with a wide variety of activities including tours of local areas of interest like a jungle hike to water falls, swimming in the warm water of a secluded cove or just sit back relax and do some site seeing. We also offer a relaxing sunset cruise with a glass of wine and appetizers; this is a fine way to end the day.

Golfo Dulce

Haiku’s very exciting adventure on the Golfo Dulce will provide you with a cruise in light tropical breezes. You will experience all the natural beauty of one of Costa Rica’s finest rain forests and National Parks as it comes down and touches the water in the Corcovado and Pieatres Blancas National Forests. You may see monkeys, dolphins, or fish jumping or even a whale on occasion. You can choose to visit Casa Orquidea botanical gardens where you can get a guided tour on hundreds of plants and flowers, Nicuesa Lodge has water falls, nature hikes and a four star restaurant if you would like to try some traditional food, Puerto Jimenez is a fun place to walk around and do shop shopping and visit the Sodas (café), or Rincon Cove where the calm water is great for a swim and you can walk to a lookout point and view the Golfo Dulce to name a few. You can swim in the warm waters of the gulf; do some snorkeling, with a little luck you might even swim with dolphins. You can also put a fishing line in the water and possibly catch fish that you can take back to your hotel and have the chef cook your catch for dinner. We offer three hour, half or full day cruise as well as overnight adventure trips in the gulf.

Pavones Surf Trip

Pavones, known to have the second longest left wave on the planet is a fun little town with local shops and sodas (restaurant) and if the swell is up one of the longest and fasted barrel waves in the world. They anchor Haiku in a cove close to the surfing, we can run you into the beach in our skiff or drop you off on the backside of the sets. There is also good fishing in the area and we will cook your catch for you.
